Varrock
Varrock is the largest free server town and contains two banks, an archery store, a general store, a sword shop, an armour shop, a clothing shop, and six anvils. The anvil located near the west bank is the closest anvil to a bank in all of the RuneScape world. Varrock is also home to Aubury, located south of the east bank - not just another Rune shop, with a chant of "Senventior Disthine Molenko", he teleports you to the Rune essence mine. In the nearby bank, there seems to be an ongoing market in Rune essence.
Varrock on the first RuneScape server (World 1) is the home of the free-to-play marketplace. Although not prescribed by RuneScape's creators to be the trading hub of the RuneScape world, hundreds of players crowd the centre of Varrock to buy and sell their items.
You can start the Demon Slayer, Romeo & Juliet, and Shield of Arrav quests in Varrock.
Varrock can be found in the kingdom of Misthalin and nearby is the cooking guild and a new member's mining site.
To the south, lies the west mine, the Champions Guild, a stone circle guarded by Dark Wizards, two kinds of berries, and the east mine.
Current Trends
On August 4, 2005 , Jagex updated the RuneScape forums, the main marketplace for RuneScape items, to now allow players to search for a certain item. Previously, the high-flow in certain forums made it extremely hard for someone to find certain items being sold or bought. If a player COULD find someone selling what he/she needed, the price would be hard to compare to, leading to some items having heavily fluctuating prices. However, with the new search function, a player can track the sales of the same item in the last 24 hours, charging or paying the appropriate price.
Prices of every item in RuneScape is currently going through a stabilization process. This Stabilization movement is bringing new hope to many players in RuneScape. The notorious merchant , a player that buys low and sells high, making profits off of others and getting rich quickly has become a loathed aspect of the RuneScape economy. The new stabilized economy means less profit margins for merchants, and therefore, a decrease in the problem .
