Requirements
ability to enter the Champions' Guild
level 33 magic ( alternativly if you have level 31 you can drink wizard mind bomb which temporarly increaes your magic by 2.
if you don't have at least level 31 magic and dont want to spend money on runes, 10000 gold is required
ability to defeat Elvarg (level 110 on RuneScape Classic, level 83 on RuneScape 2)
12 steel nails, 3 planks, and 2000 gp for a boat
a piece of silk
The Abyss is not on the RuneScape map but is has portals to all the runecrafting altars. It is also very dangerous inside, because there are abyssal monsters: Abyssal Leech, Abyssal Guardian, and the Abyssal Walker, to name but a few. Players are 'skulled' upon entry to the abyss, so if they die they will lose all items. It also causes prayer to be drained. Despite the skull and the only entry to abyss being in the Wilderness, there is no way to PK in the abyss itself. However, the section of the wilderness nearest to the Abyss entrance is well-frequented by PKers.
The monsters are only on the outer ring. There are several ways to enter the inner ring. The inner ring has no monsters, and has portals to all of the runecrafting altars. This includes portals to altars which don't yet exist, however these portals cannot be accessed. Entering a portal does not require a talisman or tiara as runecrafting elsewhere does.
By killing the abyssal monsters, players can gain runecrafting pouches, which can carry multiple rune essence, which is very helpful for runecrafting. The pouches come in four different sizes, with bigger pouches requiring higher runecrafting levels to use, but holding more essence. Each player can only have one of each type of pouch. The pouches become "degraded" over time, but are repaired free of charge by the wizard in the center of the abyss.
