Runescape Crafting Guide Information

As of October 24, 2005, there are 6708 items, 2825 NPCs and 10096 objects (doors, etc) in RuneScape.

Version 1: Original started out as a one man project. Developer (Andrew Gower) started work on the original game in 1998. This version was very different to the RuneScape of today. It had Isometric graphics, and was originally titled 'DeviousMUD'. This version was never released to the public, and only a few people ever saw it.

Version 2: Developer scrapped version 1, and started work on a complete rewrite in 1999. Despite being a complete rewrite, this version was very similar to version 1, with the same graphics and name. This version was released as a public beta for only about 1 week, and then withdrawn again.

Moderators

There are 3 types of moderator, each with a different role.

  • Jagex Mod (J-Mod) : These are the employees of Jagex. They consist of coders, script writers, graphic designers and customer service staff. They can be identified by a gold crown beside their name.
  • Player Mod (P-Mod) : A volunteer team hand picked from players of the game by Jagex staff to maintain Runescape and keep it free from rule breakers. They have the ability to mute. Player mods are unpaid employees of Jagex. They receive no tangible benefits. Player mods are not expected to spend any more time playing the game than they would normally, but merely to report problems they see during the normal course of play. They can be identified by a silver crown beside their name.
  • Forum Mod (F-Mod) : Hand picked by Jagex to carry out the tasks of managing Runescape's forum. They have the ability to lock any threads but must provide a valid reason.

All mods are hand picked by Jagex, there is no other way to become one.

As of August 12 , 2004 , their has been many new random events. Some of them can be classified under 'runescape humor'.
