Chat
In RuneScape, players can apply special formatting to chat, such as making it different colours or appearing on the screen in different ways. Chat effects can be performed by members and non-members alike. Players can create chat effects by typing simple commands before what the player wishes to say. The commands are case sensitive, and follow this syntax:
command:text
Where text is the message that will actually be displayed, and command is one of the following. The colon delimits the command code. (Note that when using multiple commands, only one color command and one movement command can be used at a time. Also, the color command must be placed first.)
| Command | Effect |
| yellow: | Text is colored |
| red: | Text is colored |
| green: | Text is colored |
| cyan: | Text is colored |
| purple: | Text is colored |
| white: | Text is colored |
| flash1: | Text cycles through a few colors |
| flash2: | Text cycles through a few colors |

| glow1: | Text cycles softly through a few colors |
